Mission, Vision, and Values

The mission of the Facultad de Economía is to place economic science at the service of humanity, fulfilling the core functions established for the Universidad Autónoma de Nuevo León by its Organic Law: teaching, research, dissemination of knowledge, and social service.

In line with its internal regulations, the Faculty maintains the same founding objectives:

a)   The comprehensive education of economists at both undergraduate and graduate levels, with an emphasis on methodological tools that enable them to develop analytical thinking, a critical spirit, a strong work discipline, and sensitivity to society’s economic problems. This prepares graduates to perform effectively in the following areas:

• Advising on public policy and administration
• Management of private enterprises and organizations of employers, workers, and consumers
• Teaching in institutions of higher education
• Economic research in academic, governmental, private, and international organizations
• Dissemination of economic analysis through specialized media
• Other professional activities requiring the expertise of an economist

b)   The support and maintenance of a Center for Economic Research (CIE), whose core mission is to produce and disseminate high-level economic research aimed at improving general well-being, integrating research into the teaching and learning process at the Facultad de Economía.

c)   The dissemination of knowledge in the field of Economics related to regional, national, and international issues through the Faculty’s periodic publications, the sponsorship of works by national and international authors, conferences, and other outreach activities.

d)   The maintenance and continuous updating of information services that provide priority support to students, professors, and researchers at the Facultad de Economía.
