Enrollment – Ph.D. in Economic Sciences (for international students at UANL)

Admission Guidelines for International Applicants to the Ph.D. in Economic Sciences

 

Thank you for your interest in pursuing the Ph.D. in Economic Sciences at the Facultad de Economía of the Universidad Autónoma de Nuevo León (UANL).

 

Below you will find the steps required for the application process.

 

Requirements

  • Documents for the Student Evaluation Committee:
    • Photocopy of high school diploma or certificate
    • Photocopy of bachelor’s degree transcript (kardex) with GPA If no GPA is shown, request a letter from your institution confirming this
    • Two letters of recommendation (preferably academic)
    • Three child-size photographs
    • Two passport-size photographs
    • Completed application form with photo (you will receive the form after registering for the admission exams)
    • Official scores from EXANI III and EXCI (minimum score for admission: EXANI III – 1,100 points)
  • Acceptance Letter Process Lic. Griselda Garcíawill email the specific requirements, including:
    • Mobility application form
    • Bachelor’s degree diploma
    • Statement of purpose explaining your interest in studying at UANL
    • Curriculum vitae
    • Psychological evaluation (assessing adaptability, temperament, stress management, etc.)
    • Medical exams (urine, blood, and general health certificate)
    • Valid passport
    • Spanish language proficiency certificate
    • Criminal background check
    • Two letters of recommendation (academic or professional)
    • Photograph in JPEG format

Important:

  • An International Medical Insurance valid for the entire stay in Mexico is mandatory, as is obtaining a student visa in your country of origin after receiving the official acceptance letter from UANL.
  • Visa de estudiante (se tendrá que tramitar desde el país de origen, una vez se encuentren aceptados en la UANL).

All documents must be submitted digitally, either issued in or translated into Spanish.

 

Once all requirements are met, the student will be nominated by the Facultad de Economía to receive the official letter of acceptance.

 

This acceptance letter, issued by UANL’s Office of Academic Exchange, is necessary for the student visa application.

 

Students may request the original letter via prepaid courier (e.g., UPS, DHL) through the Graduate Studies Office.

 

Registration and Payment for Admission Exams (May 2019)
  1. Go to https://www.uanl.mx/
  2. Click on “Prospective Students”
  3. Under Graduate Programs, select “Graduate Admission Contest”
  4. Exam guides for EXANI III and EXCI are available in this section
  5. After registering and obtaining your exam folio, please contact the Graduate Coordination Office and send:
    1. Full name
    2. Country of origin
    3. Home institution (name, full address, and phone number including international dialing code)
    4. Email address
    5. Copy of exam registration

 

Once the required information has been gathered, the Graduate Studies Division will contact CENEVAL, who will coordinate directly with the applicant to take the exams online through the NEXUS platform. The exam will take place one week after the official date indicated in the registration.

 

Once this information is received, the Graduate Studies Division will coordinate with CENEVAL, who will then contact the applicant directly to schedule the online exams via the NEXUS platform. Lic. Exams are typically scheduled one week after the official national exam date.

 

 

Equivalencia de exámenes propedéuticos

En el caso de que el aspirante no pueda asistir a los cursos propedéuticos, podrá presentar en línea el Test GRE de Economía (verificar todos los datos en el sitio web www.ets.org/gre/).

 

Al obtener el resultado, es necesario enviarlo a la siguiente dirección de correo electrónico olivia.vegaa@uanl.mx, antes del 00 de junio de 2019.

 

 

Documentación apostillada

Después de su aceptación y antes de que el aspirante viaje a México, deberá procurar apostillar la siguiente documentación en su país de origen:

  • Original birth certificate
  • High school certificate
  • Upper secondary education certificate
  • Bachelor’s degree certificate

 

Una vez que el aspirante se encuentre en México, deberá de contactar a Rosario Cortés, de la Dirección de Relaciones Internacionales de la UANL, para gestionar el formato FM3 (Formato de Permiso Migratorio) ante la Secretaría de Gobernación, ya que dicho documento formará parte de los requisitos a entregar para la inscripción definitiva en el Departamento Escolar y de Archivo de la UANL.

 

A su vez, es necesario presentarse con la Lic. Griselda García, de la Dirección de Intercambio Académico de la UANL, ya que la UANL ofrece determinadas fechas de bienvenida a los estudaintes extranjeros.

 

 

Secretaría de Educación Pública del Estado de Nuevo León

Once in Mexico, the applicant must visit the State Department of Education (SEP) to revalidate previous studies as required by UANL’s Department of Academic Records and Archives (DEyA):

  • Middle school revalidation
  • High school revalidation
  • Undergraduate degree revalidation
